I used to lose myself one week out of every month. Not in a subtle way, but in a who even am I right now kind of way. I'd snap at the people I loved most, cancel plans I was excited about, and spiral over decisions that normally felt easy. Everything just felt…off.
The hardest part? I knew it was my PMDD.
But knowing didn't make it any less real. Every month, it still felt all-consuming, like I was living in two completely different versions of myself and never knew which one to believe.
So I did what you're "supposed" to do. I asked for help.
I was told to stay on the pill. To try meditation. To journal. But nothing really worked, and honestly, I felt dismissed, like I just needed to cope better.
When I opened up to friends, I realized almost all of us were dealing with PMS in some way…and yet none of us had anything that actually helped.
We were all pretending we were fine while quietly struggling through it.
